Bruno Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez on October 8, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is of Filipino and Puerto Rican descent.

Growing up in a musical family, Mars was exposed to various genres, including pop, R&B, and reggae. His father, Peter Hernandez, was a Latin percussionist, and his mother, Bernadette San Pedro Bayot, was a singer and dancer. Mars began performing at a young age, impersonating Elvis Presley in a tribute act.

In 2011, Mars began dating model and actress Jessica Caban. The couple was together for 13 years before reportedly ending their relationship in 2024.

Mars has five siblings, all of whom are involved in the music industry. His brother, Eric Hernandez, serves as the drummer for his backup band, The Hooligans. His sisters, Tiara, Tahiti, and Presley, along with their cousin Jamie, formed the all-girl music group The Lylas.

In 2024, Mars collaborated with Lady Gaga on the song "Die With a Smile," which won International Collaboration of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards.
